Are you making those link building mistakes?

After Google’s most recent penguin update, the total scenario of SEO has been changed. Today backlink isn’t everything but still backlinks play very important role is search ranking. But you need to be smarter than ever before while building links to your site.  Unfortunately there are lots of web masters out there still making quite a lot link building mistakes and ruining their search rank and the funny side is they even not noticed about their mistakes. So here I am going to highlight few very common yet dangerous link building mistakes to avoid in post penguin link building.

Mistake No. 1: All links point to home page

Most of the web masters want to rank their home page for targeted keywords. Its OK there is no problem with it. But the problem occurs when web masters point all of their links to their home page. It’s a serious mistake to point all of your links to your home page and so many web masters make while building backlinks. So while building backlink it’s better to mix up you link with home page and as well as inner pages. That will make link building more natural.

Mistake No. 2: Using same anchor text for all backlinks

We need to try making our backlinks look as natural as possible. Now please use your common sense if you would get natural backlinks from other webmasters, would all of them use same anchor text while linking to your site? Of course not. And this is why we should not use same anchor text for all of our backlinks. Suppose you have a web site where you provide logo design service, so you want to get rank for keyword “logo design service”. What will you do while link building? I am sure you will build backlink with anchor text “logo design service”. Well, that’s ok. But problem will occur when you will use “logo design service” as anchor text for all of your backlinks. You should not do this instead you can do keyword research and target few more keywords like quality logo design, business logo design, fast logo design etc. and mix up your backlinks with those anchor text. Mistake No 3: You are not social  

All we know after Google’s latest update, Google is not depending heavily on backlinks to determine the search ranking. Google is now focusing social signal for any web pages to rank those in search engine. So if your site isn’t doing well in social media, you are more likely not getting desire search rank. So it’s time to be social. Try to focus building strong appearance in social media for SEO purpose

Mistake No 4:  You are still buying backlinks

I am not telling that paid link doesn’t work for ranking. But there is a chance of getting caught by Google. And now Google is smarter enough than ever before to catch you. Mistake No 5: Hiring cheap link builder

Most of the web master depends heavily on cheap freelancer link builder from Odesk.com or freelancer.com. Those cheap link builders don’t even have enough SEO knowledge. So they spam other sites and build lots of spammy backlinks and those links don’t help at all even lead to get ban from Google. So its better try to find quality link builder just don’t look for cheap link builder. So don’t think if you hire cheap link builder, you will able to save money but that’s not the case. Those all are total waste of your money even your site can get penalize in Google.

Mistake No 6: Depending on automated backlinks

Even though Google have publicly declared war against automated backlinks, still there are lots of web master out there depending on automated backlinks using softer like seonuke, xrumer, scrapebox etc. But those links are totally useless nowadays. If you are still depending on those backlinks, you should change your link building strategy otherwise you might even get ban from Google.

Mistake No 7: Building only do follow backlinks

Yes, I know search engine only count dofollow backlinks. But it’s not a good idea to build 100% do follow backlinks. It’s better to mix it up with few nofollow links. You should built at least 2-3% nofollow links that will make your link building more natural

Mistake No 8: Not using junk words like click here, Check out etc. as anchor text

Yes, you hear it right. You need to use junk anchor text like click here, check out, this post etc. as anchor text. This will make your backlinks look more natural.

Bottom line:

Google always likes natural backlinks. So we should make our link building looks as much as natural as possible. We should keep in mind that main purpose of one backlink is making the whole web world better and creating value and helping Google. Google always hate to see sites trying to rank high in Google by forcing it’s algorithm.
