If you are familiar with internet, then you already heard the term alexa rank. Alexa ranking is a ranking which depends on the amount of traffic a website gets with the Alexa toolbar installed. That’s the main problem with this ranking system. They just count those visitors who has got alexa tool bar installed in their browser while visiting the site. So there are lots of people out there who don’t trust alexa rank at all. Alexa update its rank every day on the basis of daily visitors.
Simply, the Alexa Rank is a ranking system which bases its ranking schema on the level of traffic each website receives from the number of people who visit a website with the Alexa toolbar installed.

Is alexa rank important?
I already said alexa rank never gives the actual result. So many blogger doesn’t care about it. When I started my blogging I didn’t care alexa rank too. But now it makes me to rethink about this. If you have a blog and doesn’t care to make money with it, then put away alexa rank. You don’t have to be serious on it. But if you want to make money through your blog then you have to care about your alexa rank. Most of the advertiser use alexa rank to determine the value of a blog. So to attract your advertiser you must care you’re your alexa rank even though you don’t trust it.

Ok that’s the point I promised to break down. Well it’s not possible to increase your alexa rank over night. At the starting you may easily get six figure level. But that’s not all. So here I will show you how you can increase your rank. I used those on my blog and I got a good result. My alexa rank is quite good 287,525(June 3, 10) as my blog is only less than two months.

1. At first you must install the alexa toolbar in your own browser. That’s the first step you should take. Without installing alexa toolbar himself it’s not wise to think that other will install alexa and visit your site. So at first install alexa toolbar. 
2.  You can see most of the webmaster install alexa toolbar. So if you get visitor who is webmaster then you may expect that he or she has this toolbar installed. So I think you should join in webmaster forum and discussion to get them visiting your site. Visitor from webmaster forum really help to increase alexa rank as they already installed alexa toolbar.  
3. Alexa provide alexa rank widget to set on your site. You should set it in your site. Because every time people will click on your widget, it will count as visit!! I removed this from my blog an external reason.
4. Webmaster always wants to know about seo, site marketing and promotion. So try to write killer post on those so that you can get webmaster linked to your post and visit you blog often.
5. Commenting on other blog really help to increase alexa ranking. Normally blogger comments on each other post. And almost every blogger already got alexa toolbar installed.
6. If you have lots of friend, tell them to install alexa toolbar and use visit your blog. This will surely help you.
7. Write post on importance of alexa rank on your blog. This will encourage your loyal reader to install alexa toolbar. So you will get your reader installed alexa toolbar.
