If you want to start blogging, you need to choose a blog platform first. Luckily there are a lots of blogging software programs available in internet. Today i will write a review on my favorite blogging platform Blogger. Blogger is one of the most popular blogging platforms among Blogger.
At first Blogger was known as Blogspot. Then it was bought by google in 2002 and named Blogger.
Why Blogger popular?
• Blogger offer totally free service to there users that means if you want to make a blog you don’t have to spend any money at all.
• Blogger is owned by google so all the blogs under Blogger are automatically submitted to the google blog directory.
• Blogger is very easy to use and you just need minimum browsing knowledge to use Blogger.
• You can use your own template easily.
• Blogger is owned by google so you can easily join adsense program to earn some money from your blog.
• No need to know html and css at all just simple drag and drop interface.
• Very active help forum.
• Hosted in google server and no restriction of storage.
• 1GB photo storage using picasa.
What I need to create blog at Blogger?
You need nothing to create a blog except a Gmail account. You can create your blog totally free and host it on google server forever. You just have to have a Gmail account. And you can create it anytime free too.
What will be my blog URL?
If you create your blog at Blogger then Blogspot.com will be added along with your blog name. Suppose you create a blog named football. And your blog URL will be football.Blogspot.com
The feature I like most:
The feature I like most of Blogger is using own custom domain name.
You can use your own custom domain name for your blog. If you don’t like to see Blogspot.com with your blog URL then you can use your own top domain name like yourblogname.com. And that will give your blog more professional look. You just have to buy a domain. Google will host your blog totally free as before. So you don’t have to pay extra money for hosting. You can buy your domain from Blogger or you may buy your domain form any other provider.
Things I don’t like of Blogger?
• I don’t like their default template. They have only few templates to use and all of them look very similar.
• Blogger may delete your blog anytime without notice you if they think you are going against their terms and policy.
Summary:
At the end I can say that Blogger is really nice platform for Blogger especially for newbie. But many people think we should not use Blogger if we are serious in blogging. I am not agreed with them because you can use Blogger as your blogging platform if you are serious in blogging too.
But I recommend you to use your own custom domain rather than sub domain like Blogspot.com
